Polyaspartic coatings are a relatively new technology for concrete floor coating and sealing. Developed in the 1990’s to protect steel from corrosion, they are now being used to protect commercial, retail and other facilities’ concrete floors. Originally developed with low VOC in mind, all polyaspartic coatings, sealers and topcoats are low or zero VOC.
Polyaspartic coatings possess nearly identical properties as the best two-component aliphatic polyurethane coatings. That is to say, they are long-wearing and abrasion, scratch, chemical, UV and impact resistant. In contrast to polyurethanes, polyaspartic coatings provide faster drying time and high film builds allowing for a much faster return to service. They also resist stains and slightly higher temperatures than other types of coatings. Because high durability, cleanability, low downtime and longevity are important requirements for floor coatings in industrial plants warehouses and other facilities, polyaspartic topcoats are an ideal solution for almost any facilities concrete flooring protection needs.
Installation of a polyaspartic coating is quick, safe and customizable. Polyaspartic coatings and topcoats allow the formulator to control the rate of cure. The potlife of a two-component polyaspartic coating can range from 5 minutes to 2 hours depending on the need for a fast return to service or coverage of a large area. Their low VOC makes them safe to use in occupied areas. Polyaspartics may be used with or without broadcast materials and on decorative flooring with little chance of intercoat contamination.
Industry applications for use of polyaspartic coatings include, but are not limited to: medical and healthcare, education, museums, arenas, concert halls, shopping malls, grocery stores, offices and commercial buildings.
Duraamen offers two polyaspartic coatings. Perdure P98 is a low VOC, ultra-high solids coating designed to give a high-gloss finish with a minimum number of coats. Perdure P72 is a zero VOC polyaspartic topcoat / polyaspartic sealer that also produces a high-gloss finish where thin builds are a requirement such as a finished decorative concrete floor.

Perdüre P72 is a new generation fast-curing, two component, polyaspartic aliphatic polyurea formulated to be used as a sealer or topcoat for interior or exterior use over properly prepared concrete or resinous flooring systems. It has excellent penetration and bond strength to properly prepared surfaces, UV resistant, and abrasion, impact, and wear resistant.

The use of Polyaspartic chemistry for finish coats represents an exciting entry into a new coating technology for floor sealing and coating applications. Polyaspartics enhance the use of conventional two-component aliphatic polyurethane technology by providing faster dry times and higher film builds. The fast-drying characteristics of Polyaspartics translate into a rapid return to service, and high film build makes it possible to reduce number of coats while maintaining the same overall thickness. These improvements all add up to improve the overall productivity of the application process.
Perdure P98 is a two component, ultra high solids, aliphatic Polyaspartic polyurea designed to provide high gloss, UV stable (non-yellowing) and chemical resistant protection. It is a superior, new generation product exhibiting fast cure and excellent stain resistance.
Perdure P98 has very low odor and can be applied indoors in occupied areas. It is generally used as a clear, high gloss finish on düraamen’s flooring systems.
