Part 1 – Information & Preparation

General Information

Endura is a high-performance decorative resin chip system consisting of 100% solids epoxy resin, and colored resin chips. Endura flooring system is finished with a clear top coat such as polyurethane or polyaspartic polyurea. The installed system can be textured or smooth as desired. Endüra flooring system is typically recommended for garage floors, basement floors, workshop floors, laundry room floors, locker room floors, restaurants, food service areas, hospitals, and fire stations.

Surface Preparation is the most critical portion of any successful resinous flooring system application. All substrates must be properly prepared as outlined in Technical-Bulletin-1.pdf. Specific attention should be paid to the following:

  • Concrete Placement – An efficient vapor barrier should be directly under slabs on or below grade to prevent moisture migration
  • Curing and Finishing techniques of the concrete substrate
  • Age of Concrete
  • Previous contamination of the substrate
  • The present condition of the substrate
  • Make sure the floor is free of moisture vapor transmission

Also, the temperature conditions of the area to receive the flooring system should be checked. An optimum room temperature of 75°F with a slab temperature of at least 50°F is required to cure the resin flooring system properly.

Part 2—Priming

While priming is optional on broadcast systems, Düraamen recommends that every flooring system be installed with a primer to ensure maximum adhesion to the prepared substrate. Priming will also help seal the concrete’s air and prevent outgassing and air bubbling in the finished system.

1. mixing Perdre E02, low viscosity epoxy primer

  1. Stir each component before mixing.
  2. Mix 2 parts by volume of Part A (base) with 1 part by volume of Part B (hardener) for three minutes with a low-speed electric drill mixing paddle.
  3. If thinning is desired, add no more than one pint of Xylene per gallon of epoxy at the mixing time.
  4. Mix only that amount of material that can be used in 15 to 20 minutes. Do not let mixed material sit in the mixing container longer than 5 minutes, or working time will be significantly reduced.

* If the moisture vapor emission rate or moisture content exceeds the stipulated maximums, use Perdure MVT instead of Perdure E02.

2. application

  1. Pour primer onto the prepared concrete substrate.
  2. Spread with a flat trowel or squeegee to a coverage of 150 to 175ft² per gallon.
  3. Backroll with a short nap roller.

3. completion

Allow the Primer to cure for at least 12-16 hours.


Part 3—Application of Body Coat and Chip Broadcast

1. mixing endüra e21, 100% solids epoxy body coat

  1. Thoroughly mix each component before combining.
  2. Mix 4 parts by volume of Part A (resin) with 1 part by volume of Part B (hardener) for three minutes with a low-speed electric drill mixing paddle.
  3. Do not mix more material than can be used in 20-30 minutes.

2. application

  1. Pour material onto the floor in a line and spread with a flat or notched squeegee to a coverage of 160 ft²/gal. This will yield 8 to 10mil dry film thickness.
  2. Backroll with a short nap roller to even the surface texture of the coating.
  3. To minimize marks in the finished system, the contractor should wear ‘spiked’ shoes while walking on wet material.
  4. Allow the material to level before broadcasting chips.

Termination points at the end of the day should be made at doorways, expansion joints, etc. If it is not possible to terminate at these points, 2″ masking tape should be placed in a straight line at the ending point. Carefully trowel the material up to and slightly over the inside edge of the tape. Allow the material to cure for about thirty (30) minutes and remove the ape.

3. broadcast to excess

Broadcast blended resin chips into the wet body coat until the surface is completely covered. Be careful not to clump the material or produce high spots. Approximately 70 to 80 lbs of chips will be needed for 1000 ft² of flooring, depending on the thickness of resin and broadcast technique. A one-gallon container holds approximately 8 lbs of chips. If terminating the system with tape as described in the note above, broadcast chips up to the tape and remove after the material cures for 30 minutes.

Remember to only walk on the wet surface while wearing ‘spiked’ shoes!!! Do not rotate your feet while walking with spike shoes to avoid creating gouges on the floor.

For projects requiring a very light broadcast of chips, broadcast lightly into the wet body coat. This is typically a random broadcast using approximately 10-15 lbs. of chips for 1000 ft². If terminating the system with tape as described in the note above, broadcast chips up to the tape and remove after the material cures for 30 minutes. Remember to only walk on the wet surface wearing ‘spike’ shoes.

4. allow the broadcast floor to cure overnight.

Sweep excess chips with a stiff bristled broom and/or vacuum.


Part 4—Application of Grout Coat / Top Coat

The applicator should complete the broadcast portion of the application before grouting. Thoroughly and lightly sand dry resin chips with pole sanders (36 grit sandpaper) in two directions before applying the topcoat, Perdure P72. A floor buffer with an abrasive screen (60-80 grit) mounted to the white pad can also be used. Be careful with this technique…keep the buffer moving at all times, in left motion, pulling rather than pushing. Broom and vacuum the loose particles from the floor surface.

  1. Stir each component before combining.
  2. Mix one part by volume of Perdure P72 Part A with one part by volume of Perdure P72 B for two to three minutes with a low-speed electric drill mixing paddle.
  3. Mix only that amount that can be used in 15-20 minutes.

2. application

  1. Immediately pour mixed material onto the floor in strips and spread at a rate of 200-250 ft² per gallon using a trowel or squeegee. To achieve smoother surfaces, apply at a spread rate of 160 ft² per gallon. It is recommended that the material be lightly back rolled with a short or medium-nap roller to smooth and level any tails or ridges.
  2. To minimize marks in the finished system, the contractor should wear ‘spiked’ shoes while walking on wet material.
  3. Allow the material to level.
    For full broadcast, it may be necessary to apply two coats of Perdure P72. Allow at least 8-10 hours between multiple coats of Perdure P72. Allow 14-16 hours between the coats in colder and humid climates.
  4. Termination points at the end of the day should be made at doorways, expansion joints, etc. If it is not possible to terminate at these points, 2″ masking tape should be placed in a straight line at the ending point. Carefully trowel the material up to and slightly over the inside edge of the tape. Allow the material to cure for about 30 minutes, and remove the tape.

3. completion

The floor can be opened for light traffic after 8 to 10 hours at 75°F.
