What You Need to Know about Pellucid Concrete Dyes

One of the amazing things about concrete is its incredible versatility, as it can be dyed and stained or you can add texture to it. The result is a surface that fits your clients’ exact specifications no matter what they want the concrete to look like. To achieve these results, you need to use a range of concrete dyes, including pellucid dyes. This particular translucent dye is also UV resistant and can work indoors or outdoors. It disperses inorganic and organic pigments and creates a concrete surface with multicolored patterns that you won’t find from most other dyes.

Reasons to Use Pellucid Dyes

There are numerous reasons to use pellucid concrete dyes from Duraamen, including their resistance to UV rays. This resistance makes them strong enough for outdoor applications as well as indoor ones. This particular type of dye is also an affordable choice, as the dye itself is relatively cheap and its ease of penetration means that you will only need to use a small quantity. Clients also love its unique mottled appearance, which can be compared to acid rain. Best of all, it is also VOC compliant provided you follow the dilution instructions.

How to Apply

To use pellucid concrete dyes, you begin by mixing the chemical according to the instructions on the container. This typically involves mixing it with acetone in small increments, mixing for 30 to 45 seconds by hand. You will want to test the dye before using it over the entire surface. After that, you can easily apply it in a circular motion using any acetone sprayer with the appropriate tip.

Tips and Precautions

When using pellucid concrete dyes, you want to always make sure that you store it in a room with a temperature between 50 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Keep in mind that the dye is flammable and you want to block ventilation systems before applying it. Also pay careful attention so it is spread evenly.
