Area Sales Manager

Territories Available: Boston, Washington, DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Chicago, Atlanta, Miami, Orlando, Dallas, Houston, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Seattle

Position requirements

  • College degree preferred; high school diploma or equivalent a must
  • Strong entrepreneurial mindset—self directed, self motivated—able to set and achieve goals and ability to run the show in an assigned territory
  • Ability to work on a commission-only basis—with the understanding that this truly does bring unlimited earning potential
  • Experience in floor covering industry—previous experience in selling to Architects and Specifiers and thorough knowledge of the architectural marketplace will be looked upon favorably
  • Direct sales experience to contractors / installers through product demonstrations, technical support and problem solving
  • Strong analytical, communication, presentation and influencing skills and be capable of communicating equally with architects, engineers, interior designers and contractors
  • Fast learner, energetic, and results-oriented; problem solver with good judgment; Professional, honest and efficient
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to lift and carry 50-75lbs

Responsibilities and Job description

  • Responsible for direct sales to contractors/installers throughout their geographic territory
  • Responsible for effective management of existing accounts in addition to the generation of new customers through lead follow-up
  • Provide superior customer service in a friendly and knowledgeable manner
  • Engage in proactive prospecting to acquire new architect, designer and contractor accounts and increase awareness of products through presentations and demonstrations
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with contractors, architects and specifiers through regular contact and technical support
  • Take on technical resource lead role in the preparation of bids on major commercial projects, and will act as a liaison to project owners, architects/designers/specifiers and contractors
  • Conduct weekly AIA Lunch & Learn presentations
  • Responsible to know all products availability, use, benefits and pricing structure
  • Generate customer orders and confirm all technical requirements
  • Adhere to Company policies and procedures
